Google DeepMind and A24 announce first-of-its-kind research partnership

Google DeepMind and the film studio A24 have formed a research partnership to develop new creative workflows and technical tools for filmmakers. By embedding Google DeepMind’s artificial intelligence research directly into the production process, the collaboration aims to provide artists with advanced technology tailored to their specific storytelling needs.

This initiative involves researchers from Google DeepMind working alongside A24 filmmakers to test and iterate on new systems. The partnership is designed to ensure that future creative tools are shaped by the professionals who use them, rather than being developed in isolation. As part of the agreement, Google has also made a financial investment in A24.

The collaboration is intended to be a long-term effort that evolves as both companies explore the intersection of cutting-edge technology and entertainment. While the specific technical outputs remain flexible, the primary goal is to expand the boundaries of what is possible in film production. By integrating direct feedback from artists into the development cycle, the project seeks to bridge the gap between complex AI research and practical creative applications.
