Gemini Spark updates: macOS launch, connected apps and more
Gemini Spark is expanding its capabilities with a new macOS application and deeper integrations with third-party services. The macOS version allows users to automate desktop tasks, such as organizing files or creating spreadsheets from local documents. Users can also trigger complex, multi-step workflows on their Mac remotely using their mobile devices. This feature is currently available in beta for Google AI Ultra subscribers in the United States.
The platform is also increasing its connectivity by integrating with apps like Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable, and Zillow Rentals. These updates allow users to perform actions such as designing flyers, managing files, ordering groceries, or booking appointments directly through Gemini. Additionally, support for the Model Context Protocol enables users to connect their own preferred applications to create a more personalized assistant experience.
Finally, Gemini Spark now features real-time tracking for specific topics, including news, sports, finance, and weather. Instead of manually refreshing browsers, users can set the assistant to monitor events and provide updates or reports automatically when specific conditions are met. These combined updates aim to streamline daily workflows by centralizing task management and information gathering across both desktop and mobile environments.
