Proactive cyber defense for governments and enterprises

Google is launching the Fairwind Program, a limited access initiative that provides governments and trusted partners with advanced cyber defense capabilities. The program addresses the dilemma defenders face when choosing between expensive, large frontier models and smaller open-weight models that require extensive custom tooling.

The Fairwind Program combines advanced Gemini models with the CodeMender harness to help defenders autonomously find, verify, and fix vulnerabilities at scale. Using Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber, organizations can generate deployment-ready code patches in minutes within secure cloud environments, significantly reducing the time it takes to resolve security flaws compared to manual methods.

Initial access is focused on government agencies, national cyber authorities, critical infrastructure operators, and core technology platforms to harden public networks, healthcare, energy, and financial systems. Participating organizations must follow strict operational standards, including restricting access to internal security teams and using multi-factor authentication.

Beyond this program, Google is releasing its 2026 US Cybersecurity Impact Report detailing $36 million in funding for 35 cyber clinics that provide free security support to hospitals, schools, and utilities. Google Cloud customers can also use CodeMender with publicly available models on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform to proactively secure their code.
