Anthropic opens Seoul office and announces new partnerships across the Korean AI ecosystem

Anthropic has officially opened a new office in Seoul, South Korea, to support its growing user base and strengthen ties with the local technology ecosystem. Led by Representative Director KiYoung Choi, the office serves as a permanent hub for the company to collaborate with Korean enterprises, startups, and researchers who are integrating Claude into their operations.

The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT to prioritize AI safety and cybersecurity. This partnership includes collaborating with the Korea AI Safety Institute to evaluate model safety in the Korean language and sharing intelligence regarding AI-enabled cyber threats. Additionally, Anthropic is providing researchers at the National AI Research Lab with access to Claude to advance studies on model alignment, robustness, and frontier AI research.

Major Korean organizations are adopting Claude to improve productivity and software development. Companies including NAVER, Nexon, LG CNS, Hanwha Solutions, and Samsung SDS are deploying Claude tools across their engineering and business teams. Furthermore, startups are embedding the technology into their products, such as Channel Corp’s customer service platform.

This expansion reflects Korea’s position as a top global market for Claude usage. By establishing a local presence, Anthropic aims to provide direct support to the country’s active developer community through initiatives like startup programs, technical meetups, and hackathons. The move ensures that Anthropic can better meet the specific data-residency and security requirements of Korean businesses while fostering responsible AI innovation in the region.
