Waymo is bringing Gemini into its custom Ojai vehicles.

Waymo is integrating Google’s Gemini AI assistant into its custom Ojai vehicles to provide a more helpful and personalized passenger experience. While the autonomous Waymo Driver safely navigates the roads, passengers can use Gemini as an in-car assistant by pressing the Gemini icon on the screen and using voice commands.

The new feature allows riders to control cabin settings hands-free, such as adjusting the air conditioning. Passengers can also use Gemini to discover local points of interest, find nearby coffee shops, or learn about the history of monuments they pass during the ride.

Gemini operates entirely independently of the Waymo Driver system. It remains completely inactive until a passenger chooses to engage with it, ensuring safety functions and AI features are strictly separated while giving riders a wealth of knowledge from their seats.
