Introducing Claude Tag
Claude Tag is a new feature that integrates Claude directly into Slack as a collaborative team member. By granting Claude access to specific channels, tools, and data, teams can delegate tasks by tagging the model in a conversation. Once tagged, Claude breaks down requests into stages, executes them using its connected tools, and provides updates within the Slack thread.
This tool is designed for multiplayer interaction, allowing multiple team members to view and build upon Claude’s ongoing work in a shared channel. The model retains context from these conversations, reducing the need for repetitive explanations. It can also operate proactively by monitoring channels for relevant information, following up on unresolved tasks, and working asynchronously on projects that span hours or days.
Security and administrative control are central to the design. System administrators define which tools and data sources Claude can access, ensuring that information remains scoped to specific channels. For example, an engineering-focused Claude cannot access sales data. Administrators also manage token spending limits and maintain logs of all tasks performed by the model.
Claude Tag is available today in beta for Claude Enterprise and Team customers, replacing the previous Claude in Slack application. It currently runs on the Opus 4.8 model. Organizations can begin by pairing the tool with their Slack workspace, configuring permissions, and setting usage limits to allow teams to delegate work more efficiently.
