Claude Science, an AI workbench for scientists, is now available
Claude Science is a new AI workbench designed to consolidate the fragmented tools and databases used in scientific research into a single, integrated environment. Available as a beta application for macOS and Linux, it allows researchers to conduct multi-step analyses, manage computing resources, and generate publication-ready figures and manuscripts. The platform is pre-configured with over 60 specialized skills and connectors for fields such as genomics, proteomics, and cheminformatics.
The workbench functions by using a coordinating agent that manages various tasks, from querying scientific databases to executing complex pipelines on local or remote infrastructure. It emphasizes reproducibility by maintaining an auditable history of all actions, including the exact code and environment used to generate results. A built-in reviewer agent monitors outputs to verify citations, check calculations, and ensure figures align with their underlying data, allowing researchers to refine their work through plain-language instructions.
By automating the transition between different software and computing clusters, Claude Science aims to accelerate research workflows. It is designed to operate on a lab’s existing infrastructure, ensuring that sensitive data remains secure while scaling compute power as needed. The platform is currently available to Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise users, with additional support and credits being offered for select academic and nonprofit research projects through July 2026.
