New online guide helps Danish municipalities navigate EU digital regulations
The Danish Agency for Digitalization is launching a new online guide designed to help organizations, including municipalities, navigate complex European Union digital regulations. Much of the digital legislation comes from the EU to unify rules across European countries and prevent a patchwork of national laws. The guide covers areas such as cybersecurity, GDPR, artificial intelligence, and digital platforms.
Users can access the guide anonymously and answer questions regarding their organization type, sector, and use of artificial intelligence. Based on these answers, the tool provides a tailored overview of relevant rules, legal requirements, and responsible authorities. For example, a municipal institution will receive specific information about the NIS 2 cybersecurity law, as well as guidance on business activities, operations, personal data processing, and tracking technologies.
The development of this legislative guide is part of a broader strategy for Danish digital development agreed upon in February 2024 by a broad political coalition. The content was built in close cooperation with the government authorities responsible for overseeing digital regulation, data protection, and financial digital resilience. Minister for Research, Education, and Digitalization Christina Egelund notes that the tool aims to save time and give organizations a quick overview of the rules they must follow.
