Sweden's Finansinspektionen to Audit Bank Defences Against AI Threats
Sweden's financial supervisory authority, Finansinspektionen, is launching an audit to determine whether advanced artificial intelligence models pose a threat to Swedish financial companies and to evaluate how these firms can protect themselves.
Erik Wingstrand from the authority notes that as cyber threats evolve and artificial intelligence models rapidly grow more advanced, companies must continuously strengthen their capabilities to prevent, detect, and manage cyber attacks.
As part of this analytical work, the authority will visit several selected financial companies to observe how they tackle the emerging threat and to check whether they meet the requirements outlined in the European Union regulation on digital operational resilience known as Dora.
This oversight matters because the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence creates new risks for the financial sector, making it crucial to ensure that institutions have adequate defenses in place to maintain operational stability and security in compliance with European standards.
