TNG report shows low maturity in Swedish workplace AI usage
A new study from the recruitment and consulting firm TNG reveals that while artificial intelligence usage in Swedish workplaces has doubled in a year, the maturity of this usage remains very low. Although more than half of employed Swedes now use AI at work, the vast majority only skim the surface of its capabilities rather than integrating it into deep workflows.
Specifically, 74 percent of users limit their activity to the most basic level of asking occasional questions in an AI chat. Only 22 percent have built custom GPTs for recurring tasks, just 9 percent use agent mode, and merely 4 percent rely on automated workflows where AI handles entire processes independently.
TNG CEO Åsa Edman Källströmer notes that while a doubling in usage is positive, it does not measure actual utility. She emphasizes that real productivity gains are missing as long as most users only chat occasionally, and she points out that employers must actively support staff in transitioning from simple chats to building AI directly into their work processes rather than just hoping for the best.
