Danish regions shared over 100,000 confidential patient messages in AI project
Region Hovedstaden and Region Sjælland shared more than 100,000 confidential patient messages in an artificial intelligence project without anonymizing the data. Experts assess that the regions broke the law across multiple areas by handling the information in this manner.
The shared data includes sensitive details about treatment paths, diagnoses, medication renewals, and anxiety attacks for psychiatric patients, children, cancer patients, and other citizens. In total, 105,257 messages were distributed within the project. Internal documents from the two regions reveal the extent of the data sharing. Representatives from the regions have rejected the criticism.
