Norwegian startup Pistachio adds compliance management with Hugin.io acquisition

The Oslo-based cybersecurity company Pistachio has acquired the intellectual property of the Norwegian cyber-risk management platform Hugin.io. The financial terms of the agreement were not publicly disclosed. Prior to this purchase, Pistachio focused primarily on human risk management, offering artificial intelligence-driven tools for security awareness, insider-risk mitigation, and training against threats like phishing.

Hugin.io, which was founded in 2023, built cybersecurity management software specifically for small and medium-sized businesses. Its technology helps organizations assess their overall security posture, identify operational gaps, and handle cybersecurity requirements without relying heavily on manual administrative work.

Pistachio will integrate Hugin.io's technology directly into its existing platform rather than maintaining it as a standalone offering. As part of this integration, Pistachio plans to launch a new compliance product in 2027. This upcoming tool will cover security-posture management alongside device and application oversight, designed to help organizations comply with major regulatory standards such as ISO 27001, NIS2, SOC 2, and DORA.
