Moonshot AI has released the model weights for Kimi K3, a massive 2.8 trillion parameter artificial intelligence model available on Hugging Face with a file size of 1.56 terabytes.

The release comes with specific commercial licensing terms. While the previous K2 model used a modified MIT license requiring attribution for commercial entities exceeding 100 million monthly active users or 20 million dollars in monthly revenue, the K3 license goes further. It requires companies operating a Model as a Service business with total revenue exceeding 20 million dollars over any consecutive 12 months to enter into a separate agreement with Moonshot AI before commercial use. Moonshot consistently refers to this as an open weight license rather than open source.

OpenRouter has already made Kimi K3 available through seven providers. Most of these providers match Moonshot AI's pricing of 3 dollars per million input tokens and 15 dollars per million output tokens.
