Verda becomes Finland’s latest AI unicorn with $189M funding round
Helsinki-based artificial intelligence infrastructure company Verda has secured $189 million in an oversubscribed Series B funding round alongside additional investment. This financial milestone pushes the company to unicorn status as it focuses on scaling its full-stack artificial intelligence cloud.
The funding round was led by Emergence Capital. Additional participants include MUFG Innovation Partners, Supermicro, Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company, Lifeline Ventures, 6 Degrees Capital, byFounders, and Tesi. Several angel investors also joined the round, including Meta employee Ola Tørudbakken, along with Mark Saroufim from Core Auto and GPUMODE.
Verda founder and chief executive officer Ruben Bryon states that artificial intelligence is becoming critical infrastructure across industries while Europe faces a pivotal window over the next few years. The company aims to build a major technology firm starting with artificial intelligence infrastructure while simultaneously reducing the global carbon footprint of computing.
