SAS Denmark Introduces SAS Quantum Lab for Quantum AI
SAS is introducing the SAS Quantum Lab, an upcoming tool for SAS Viya customers designed to serve as a launchpad for quantum artificial intelligence. The platform aims to complement the work of quantum experts while allowing other users to explore, test, and validate their ideas.
Real-world applications demonstrate how these technologies address complex logistical and financial challenges. For example, a project by D-Wave Quantum, Groovenauts, and Mitsubishi Estate used quantum solutions to optimize waste collection in Tokyo. This initiative tackled limited resources, strict operational constraints, and thousands of scheduling decisions to improve cost and efficiency.
In another project, SAS partnered with neutral-atom quantum computing leader QuEra Computing and a global financial institution. They applied a hybrid quantum-classical approach to consumer bankruptcy modeling, helping the bank build a challenger bankruptcy score within SAS Viya using detailed internal transaction, lending, and deposit data.
These developments matter because they bridge advanced quantum computing with practical business analytics. By integrating these capabilities into accessible platforms like SAS Viya, organizations across different industries can begin solving complex optimization and modeling problems that involve massive data sets and rigid operational constraints.
