Swedish AI company Lovable acquires Sutro

The Swedish artificial intelligence company Lovable has acquired Sutro to strengthen its AI development platform with specialized expertise in backend infrastructure, compiler technology, security, and software reliability. Founder Tomas Halgas and engineers Max Gfeller, Tony Zhan, and Hirad Arshadi are joining Lovable as part of the deal.

This acquisition reflects a broader change in the software development industry, where generating applications quickly is no longer sufficient. As AI-generated software transitions from simple prototypes into actual business environments, companies require greater transparency into what their applications do, how business rules function, and whether the underlying systems are trustworthy.

Sutro addresses these needs through five years of development on its own programming language, compiler, and backend platform, which are designed to make application logic and behavior more explicit.

By integrating this technology and team, Lovable aims to achieve its broader goal of making software creation not only faster through artificial intelligence, but also easier to understand, control, and trust for enterprise users.
