Nscale reveals ByteDance relationship in IPO filing, accounting for 75% of sales
Nscale has revealed in an initial public offering filing that ByteDance accounts for 75 percent of its sales. This significant business relationship centers on an arrangement where ByteDance gains access to advanced Nvidia B200 chips through Nscale’s data center located in Norway.
This setup allows ByteDance to effectively route around direct United States export restrictions that normally limit the sale of such advanced artificial intelligence chips to Chinese companies. While Norway is not currently subject to the same strict export controls as the United States, Washington continues to pressure allied nations to tighten their respective chip export policies.
The operation is backed by financial leverage, including a 105 million dollar loan from Macquarie that supports the Glomfjord facility where the infrastructure is based. This highlights the concentrated financial bet Nscale has placed on its partnership with ByteDance amid a complex international regulatory environment.
