Verda becomes Finland’s latest AI unicorn with $189M funding round

Helsinki-founded AI infrastructure company Verda has raised $189 million in an oversubscribed Series B and additional investment, officially achieving unicorn status. Founded in 2020, Verda provides a full-stack AI cloud that covers physical data centres, computing hardware, cloud platform services, and AI research, offering on-demand computing capacity for AI teams.

The funding round was led by Emergence Capital, with participation from MUFG Innovation Partners, Supermicro, Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company, Lifeline Ventures, 6 Degrees Capital, byFounders, Tesi, and several angel investors, including Ola Tørudbakken and Mark Saroufim. The company reached an annualized revenue run rate of $165 million in July.

Verda will use the new capital to accelerate product development across its platform, expand its inference capabilities, and multiply its compute capacity over the coming year. The company also plans to continue its international growth following recent office openings in London and San Francisco, scaling its operations across Europe, the United States, and Asia.
