Verda AI Cloud Funding Drives European Cloud Expansion

Helsinki-based cloud computing company Verda, formerly known as DataCrunch, has closed a major funding round that pushes its total capital raised to between $200 million and $219 million. This financial push places the company's valuation at over $1 billion.

The funding deal blends traditional venture equity with regional development financing. It includes debt financing from Nordic financial institutions and participation from Lifeline Ventures in a round led by Emergence Capital.

This financial structure reflects the company's Nordic roots and supports its ambition to challenge the dominance of major American cloud providers. The involvement of a development bank alongside private equity investors highlights that backers view infrastructure-heavy artificial intelligence computing as a long-term investment rather than a quick flip. Alongside this capital raise, the company has planned revenue growth and hiring initiatives to expand its European cloud operations.
