Tailwind Biotech wins DKK 0.7m Innobooster grant
Tailwind Biotech has secured a DKK 0.7 million Innobooster grant from Innovation Fund Denmark. The Copenhagen-based synthetic biology startup will use the non-dilutive funding for a project focused on applying artificial intelligence to DNA design to improve bioproduction in plant systems.
This award builds on a history of public backing from the same fund. Tailwind Biotech previously received support for two other projects involving artificial intelligence and DNA design, one in 2023 and another in 2024.
Founded in 2022 by Mirko Ceriani, the startup is developing AI-designed synthetic DNA sequences. Its leadership includes former Technical University of Denmark professor Christopher Workman serving as Chief Scientific Officer.
The grant provides non-dilutive financial support that allows the startup to continue advancing its AI-driven DNA design platform without giving up company equity.
