Danish drone maker Stormborn looks to AI for future maritime systems

The war in Ukraine has fundamentally transformed drone development in recent years. In response, the Danish drone manufacturer Stormborn is designing its marine drones to be equipped with radar systems and weapons. Looking to the future, the company also plans to incorporate an artificial intelligence-based decision-making layer into these maritime systems.

This technological shift highlights how modern conflicts are rapidly accelerating the integration of advanced automation and tactical hardware into unmanned watercraft. By adding radar and weaponry, Stormborn is positioning its naval drones to handle increasingly complex defense and security missions at sea.

These developments matter because they reflect a broader industry trend where traditional maritime defense is shifting toward automated systems. The potential addition of artificial intelligence for decision-making suggests that future marine drones will operate with higher levels of autonomy in operational environments.
