DNB forbyr KI-briller

The major Norwegian bank DNB has introduced a ban on smart glasses inside all of its premises and branch offices. The measure is designed to protect sensitive customer information and trade secrets from being compromised, as well as to safeguard the working environment for employees.

These AI-equipped glasses look like ordinary eyewear but contain built-in cameras, microphones, and artificial intelligence technology. DNB implemented the restriction due to concerns that confidential conversations and customer data could be secretly recorded or captured, and because current laws do not adequately regulate the use of such technology.

Bank representatives emphasized that employees should not have to worry about being filmed by colleagues or visitors, and that the organization cannot take the risk of losing control over internal information. Meanwhile, the Norwegian government is currently considering a broader ban on smart glasses, following a previous approach that left it up to public and private sectors to establish their own workplace guidelines.
