KI-advarsler har fått Støre til å ringe utlandet
Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store is in close contact with international colleagues to discuss how politicians should respond to rapid developments in artificial intelligence. His actions follow recent warnings from major US artificial intelligence companies, where industry leaders and researchers have cautioned about the technology getting out of control and posing extreme risks to humanity. Over one thousand American artificial intelligence workers have signed a petition to slow down the technological progress.
Store finds it thought-provoking that top executives from the biggest technology companies are warning against developments within their own firms. He plans to bring up artificial intelligence and security with international leaders during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly.
Domestically, Store addressed the role of artificial intelligence in schools during a Labour Party national convention. He states that artificial intelligence should not be used as a shortcut for learning or to let technology think for children. Individuals must take personal responsibility for formulating their own thoughts rather than relying on technology to think for them.
While Store recognizes the government's special responsibility to strengthen digital security for critical societal functions, he also uses artificial intelligence himself as a time-saving tool. He compares his personal use to a Google search for gathering information and processing large documents, while remaining mindful not to surrender his own thinking to the tool.
