Copenhagen Startup Complir Raises $11m to support global compliance requirements

Copenhagen-based startup Complir has secured an $11 million seed funding round led by General Catalyst, with participation from angel investors. Founded in 2024 by Gustav Bang, Tine Kühnel, and Marc Brejner, the company operates an artificial intelligence infrastructure platform designed to help brands and retailers navigate product compliance and regulatory requirements.

The platform uses artificial intelligence to map product data against relevant regulations and automatically generate the necessary documentation to bring products to market faster. By leveraging large language models, the system processes exhaustive and constantly shifting laws in near real-time, handling a rules-based volume of information that exceeds human capacity.

This technology matters because managing global product regulations has historically been too large, fragmented, and fast-changing for traditional software tools or individual teams to keep up with. The new funding will support the startup in scaling its operations to help companies manage complex compliance requirements more effectively in today's regulatory climate.
