Danish pharma giant Novo to use Anthropic’s Claude to advance AI drug discovery

The Danish pharmaceutical company Novo has partnered with artificial intelligence firm Anthropic to use the Claude AI model to accelerate the development of new medicines. The collaboration aims to boost research and development efforts to create transformative health solutions for people living with chronic diseases.

This initiative builds upon Novo's previous technological investments. In 2024, the Novo Nordisk Foundation partnered with Nvidia and the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark to establish the Danish Centre for AI Innovation, which operates Gefion, Denmark's first AI-ready supercomputer.

Anthropic is actively expanding its presence in the life sciences sector. The tech company previously announced a collaboration with Bristol Myers Squibb in May 2026 to deploy Claude across research, clinical development, manufacturing, commercial, and corporate functions.

The agreement between Novo and Anthropic highlights a wider industry trend of major drugmakers integrating artificial intelligence throughout their research and development pipelines to speed up the discovery of new pharmaceutical treatments.
