Danish surgeon performs operation across 1,200 kilometers using robotic arms
Danish surgeon Jan Krzak successfully performed an operation on a patient located 1,200 kilometers away on the Faroe Islands. The procedure was carried out from the hospital in Aabenraa, Denmark, using newly tested robotic equipment.
During the procedure, the senior consultant surgeon operated from a console using a combination of joysticks and foot pedals. These controls directed three robotic arms physically located in Torshavn where the actual patient care took place.
