Norwegian solution lets AI hunt for vulnerabilities around the clock

Theis Maker, a Norwegian inventor behind the company Disqnect AS, has turned his handheld cyber device into part of a much larger security system. Digi first met him in January, when he had built the first version of what was called a "hacker box": a portable unit that can attack or map all kinds of digital devices and networks.

Ten months later, the original box is barely recognisable. It now works as a node in a broader setup rather than as a standalone tool. Around it, Disqnect has built a cloud platform that analyses what the devices find, prioritises risks and follows up on security work. The platform also includes portals for partners and customers.

The headline describes the result as a solution that lets AI hunt for vulnerabilities around the clock. The text available here does not spell out how the AI is used, how many customers rely on the system, or what it costs, so those details remain unclear.

The change matters because it shows a small Norwegian hardware startup moving from a single gadget to a continuous security service. Instead of one-off testing with a handheld device, findings feed into a platform that ranks risks and tracks remediation, which is the kind of ongoing follow-up organisations need once vulnerabilities have been identified.

The story was reported by Marius B. Jørgenrud for Digi and published on 3 November 2026.
