Two authorities to supervise prohibited uses of artificial intelligence

Two Danish authorities, the Digitaliseringsstyrelsen (Agency for Digital Government) and Datatilsynet (the Data Protection Agency), are to supervise whether companies and public authorities comply with a number of the EU's bans on specific uses of artificial intelligence.

The arrangement is set out in a draft executive order (bekendtgørelse) that the Digitaliseringsstyrelsen has sent for public consultation on the Danish consultation portal, Høringsportalen. The news was reported by A4 Medier on 2 November 2026.

The rules are intended to apply from 1 December, on the condition that the new Danish AI act has entered into force by then. If the act is not in force by that date, the timing would not hold.

The available text does not say which of the EU's prohibitions each authority will oversee, how the work will be divided between them, or what powers they will have. Those details are in the draft order itself, which is open for consultation.

The significance is that the draft names the bodies responsible for enforcing the EU's prohibited-practices rules in Denmark, for both private companies and public authorities.
