CoreWeave Expands Global AI Cloud Platform With New Capacity in Denmark and First Global AI Network Backbone
CoreWeave, the AI cloud platform, has expanded into Denmark. It has brought most of a planned 22.5 megawatts (MW) of IT capacity online at atNorth's DEN01 data center in Copenhagen. This is CoreWeave's first deployment in the country. The announcement was made through Business Wire and also refers to what CoreWeave calls its first global AI network backbone, though no details of that backbone are given in the available text.
DEN01 is built for GPU-intensive processing, which is the kind of workload CoreWeave's AI cloud serves. The site has a heat reuse agreement under which surplus heat is supplied to the district heating network. This reduces reliance on alternative heating sources and contributes to Denmark's green transition.
Eyjólfur Magnús Kristinsson, CEO of atNorth, framed the partnership around efficiency and responsible operation. He said modern workloads need digital infrastructure that is high performance, energy efficient and responsibly operated. In his words, CoreWeave gains access to DEN01's infrastructure while the partnership supports renewable energy development through power purchase agreements and helps warm local homes through heat reuse.
The deployment matters for Denmark and the Nordics because it brings a major AI cloud provider's GPU capacity to Copenhagen, on a site that ties compute demand to renewable power contracts and to heating for nearby homes. The remaining portion of the 22.5 MW is still to come online, and no further figures, timelines or customer details are provided.
