GANNI founder and Tommy Ahlers invest in Danish AI startup

Lumilab, a Danish AI startup, has raised a pre-seed investment in its first funding round. The investors include GANNI founder Nicolaj Reffstrup and former minister Tommy Ahlers, along with others the source does not name. The size of the round is not given in the available text.

The company builds AI software for operating energy infrastructure. It says it already supports 45,000 physical assets in more than 30 countries. Lumilab grew out of research at the University of Copenhagen.

The startup plans to use the new capital to expand its team and to scale the product to more players in the global energy infrastructure sector.

In the press release, Reffstrup stressed the need for smarter operation of energy infrastructure. He said: "Energy sovereignty depends on reliable and efficient infrastructure. We need intelligent systems like Lumilab to operate it at scale."

The round shows well-known Danish business figures backing a university spin-out that applies AI to the running of energy assets, a field where, as Reffstrup frames it, reliability and efficiency are tied to national energy sovereignty.
