Nvidia GTC Berlin: Sweden's Sferical One supercomputer and other Nordic AI projects
Sweden is emerging as one of Nvidia's most advanced European partners, combining sovereign AI infrastructure, robotics, autonomous transportation and quantum computing. That is the picture from Nvidia's GTC Berlin coverage of Nordic projects.
The centrepiece is Sferical One, a shared supercomputer launched by a consortium that includes Ericsson, AstraZeneca, Saab, SEB and Wallenberg Investments, with SKF as a strategic partner. It is built on two Nvidia DGX SuperPODs, with 16 racks of DGX GB300 systems and 1,152 GPUs. The infrastructure will support secure development and deployment of customized AI models.
Nvidia is also supporting the Swedish startups Lovable and Legora. In industry, ABB Robotics uses Nvidia Omniverse for industrial simulation and reports up to 99% simulation accuracy and 80% shorter commissioning times.
In transportation, Volvo Cars is expanding its Nvidia partnership to introduce increasingly automated driving capabilities. It combines Hyperion, Halos OS and the Alpamayo Stack for complex driving environments. Einride is developing autonomous freight.
Elsewhere in the region, an enterprise AI assistant built on Nvidia Nemotron models and distributed infrastructure is designed to capture information, document decisions and assist employees during meetings. Finnish startup ConfidentialMind is developing multilingual enterprise retrieval technologies and reports a more than 20% improvement in cross-language retrieval accuracy across English, Finnish and Swedish.
The region is also advancing autonomous systems, scientific computing and quantum-GPU integration. Taken together, the projects show Nordic companies building on Nvidia's platforms across shared national-scale compute, industrial simulation, vehicles and enterprise software.
