Plinto raises €2.9M pre-seed for AI agents that catch invoice errors
Plinto, a Copenhagen-based startup, has raised €2.9 million in pre-seed financing from People Ventures, Emblem and several business angels. The company builds AI agents that compare transactions against contracts, budgets and policies, and take action when they detect problems such as invoice errors.
Plinto was co-founded by Nielsen, Nermina Suljevic and Sebastian Rehnby. All three worked at Peakon, as did chief technology officer Andreas Garnæs. Peakon is the Copenhagen employee-feedback company that Workday bought in 2021 for about $700 million. Nielsen studied economics and ended up in financial controlling almost by accident, after former classmates told him how hard it is to close the books. The team's first product was a business intelligence dashboard.
The round comes as Copenhagen builds a reputation as a centre for AI in accounting and finance. Other recent funding includes Spektr's $20 million Series A, Complir's €1.7 million pre-seed and PSV Tech's €56 million second fund for Nordic pre-seed startups. Globally, Ramp's $1.85 billion fundraising at a $60 billion valuation shows how much capital is flowing into finance software.
The article cites a forecast that the AI market in accounting will reach $88.1 billion by 2034. Plinto is positioning itself in that market with agents that act on discrepancies they find, rather than only reporting them.
