Robots, startups and new connections at Data Science Day 2026

Data Science Day 2026 was held in Norway and brought together companies, public bodies and research groups working with data science and AI. Participating organisations included Equinor, DNV, SINTEF Digital, Statistics Norway (SSB), the Norwegian Mapping Authority, the Norwegian Computing Center, Sopra Steria, Tieto, BCG Platinion and BCG X, Wybe Robotics, and the Norwegian Centre for Embodied AI, along with a number of smaller firms and startups such as Actential, Bineric AI, Novaspire AI and Eyer.

The evening programme took place in the Sophus Lie auditorium. Speakers from Ruter, Kongsberg Discovery, Wybe Robotics and the University of Oslo presented developments in AI and robotics. One session was titled "How do robots predict the future?" and was given by Einar Holt and Oscar Westbye of Wybe Robotics. Another was titled "From pilot to service: Data-driven development of shared autonomous mobility in Oslo."

Three of the people involved are affiliated with Integreat, the Norwegian Centre for Knowledge-driven Machine Learning, and one of them, Camilla Lingjærde, is also part of the DSTrain postdoctoral programme. The organisers thanked the programme committee for putting together the programme. A group photo shows Camilla Lingjærde, Özgü Alay-Erduran, Sigurd Holmsen, August Arnstad, Einar Holt, Oscar Westbye, Andreas Carlson and Martin Skjelhaugen, with Torben Falleth Olsen seated in front.

The event shows how Norway's data science community links industry, public agencies, startups and academia, with robotics and autonomous mobility, including shared autonomous transport in Oslo, a visible focus this year. The material available gives only session titles and speaker affiliations, not details of the talks themselves.
