Legora’s valuation leaps to $8.8BN as raises $550M

Swedish legal AI company Legora has raised $550 million in a Series E round at an $8.8 billion valuation, up from $5.6 billion just six months ago, when it closed a $600 million Series D. Boston-based Atreides Management, a new investor, led the round.

Other new investors are Baron Capital, Capital Group, Fidelity, Glade Brook Capital Partners and JP Morgan. Existing backers that took part include Accel, Benchmark, Bessemer Venture Partners, General Catalyst, Iconiq, Insight Venture Partners, Redpoint Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and Sands Capital. Legora says it built the round around long-term holders, strategic investors and institutions that work daily with law firms and in-house legal teams.

Legora's software helps lawyers research, review and draft legal work. It competes with US rival Harvey, and along with Lovable is counted among Sweden's most hyped startups. The company says demand is shifting as legal teams move from AI assistants to AI agents that carry out multi-step work. In-house legal teams, a small fraction of its customers a year ago, made up more than 40 per cent of new customers in the third quarter. The US is now its biggest market.

The money will go toward expansion in North America, where Legora has offices in New York, Denver, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Toronto and Mexico City, as well as in Europe and Asia-Pacific. It will also fund further investment in its agentic operating system.

CEO and co-founder Max Junestrand said the opportunity in legal is enormous and the company is still early. He said AI is changing the lawyer's role toward judgment and advice, and that Legora intends to lead that shift in the US and globally.
