Few Danes expect to lose their jobs to AI

Three out of four Danes do not fear that AI will take their job in the near future, according to a new survey from DI, the Confederation of Danish Industry. Half of the respondents say AI has made them faster and better at their work tasks.

A second DI survey looked at companies. Just under a third say AI reduces time and work pressure on routine tasks, and about as many say it frees up time for more meaningful and professionally interesting work. Andreas Holbak Espersen, industry director at DI Digital, says AI works best as a tool that takes over routine tasks so employees can use their expertise where it makes a difference. He adds that general unemployment figures show no sign that AI is hurting employment.

A third DI analysis compares how widely companies use AI. Companies that use it systematically across the whole organisation saw employment grow 11.7 percent and revenue grow 13.3 percent from 2021 to 2025. Companies that use AI only in selected departments saw employment grow 4.5 percent and revenue grow 4.4 percent over the same period.

Espersen says Danish companies are among the most AI-mature in Europe and that the figures show it pays to adopt the technology throughout a company. He argues the debate has focused too much on how many jobs AI will cost and should also address what it can create. In his view, the key question is how to make sure employees have the right skills and that AI is used responsibly for the benefit of companies and society. DI says it is working to highlight areas where AI creates value, including through concrete use cases from member companies.
