Danish finance sector keeps hiring as AI changes required skills

Finans Danmark, the trade and employer organisation for banks, mortgage lenders, asset managers, brokers, investment funds, data centres and IT and fintech firms in the Danish financial sector, reports that the sector hired 28 percent more people last year than in 2020. The figure comes from a press release dated 2 October 2026 titled "AI changes the work, but the finance sector keeps hiring."

Companies in the sector also expect employment to stay stable or rise. The release draws the conclusion that, for now, artificial intelligence does not mean fewer hires. The technology is, however, already changing which skills employers ask for. The material available gives no breakdown of which skills are gaining or losing demand, and no further figures.

The same newsroom page lists two other items. One is Finans Danmark's September 2026 housing market statistics, published on 9 October under the headline "Copenhageners have more apartments to choose from." The other is a consultation response in which Finans Danmark fully supports abolishing Denmark's special certification scheme for auditors of credit institutions and insurance companies. Scrapping it would put Denmark under the same rules as the EU.

For readers following AI in the Nordics, the point is that the Danish finance industry's own data so far shows AI reshaping job content rather than cutting headcount, with employers planning to keep hiring.
