Solvera raises $6.3M to scale the AI-native engineering firm

Oslo-based Solvera has raised $6.3 million in a pre-seed round to build what it calls an AI-native engineering firm for the construction industry. Seedcamp led the round. Other participants were Construct Venture, Inception Fund, Momentum, Obos Ventures, PSV Tech, Sondo and The Nordic Web Ventures, along with angel investors including Spacemaker founders Anders Kvåle and Håvard Haukeland.

Solvera's approach is not to develop another software tool for engineers. Instead, it aims to integrate AI directly into its engineering services and its business model, so the firm itself is built around AI rather than selling AI products to other engineering companies.

The company is already working on several building projects in Norway. The work spans early-stage engineering through detailed design and includes commercial projects with the Norwegian contractor Betonmast.

The new money will go toward expanding Solvera's engineering and technology team in Oslo, opening an office in London, and further developing its operating system. The company also plans to enter additional markets as its business model develops.

The article gives no valuation, revenue figures or details of how the operating system works. What it does show is a Nordic startup, backed by investors and founders with ties to Norway's construction technology scene, trying to turn engineering services for buildings into an AI-led business and preparing to take that model abroad.
