PerPlant lands Valtra deal to put its AI crop sensor on tractors straight from the factory

Danish agtech startup PerPlant has agreed a partnership with Valtra Unlimited, the customization studio of the AGCO-owned tractor brand Valtra, so that its AI crop sensor can be fitted at the factory on new Valtra tractors. Until now the system has been something a farmer adds to equipment they already own.

The sensor will be offered on Valtra's A105 and A115, G, N, T, Q and S Series models in selected European markets, and in other markets on request. PerPlant's system is a single AI unit with two cameras that mount on the tractor roof.

PerPlant CEO and cofounder Rasmus Emil Hansen says farming margins are always thin, and that many farmers therefore prefer to buy a crop intelligence system that fits onto equipment they already have. The factory option adds a second route to market alongside that retrofit approach.

The deal also puts PerPlant's cameras on more tractors. The company is betting that its long-term value lies less in spraying and more in the field data its sensors collect every time a tractor drives. More machines carrying the sensor means more opportunities to gather that data.

For the Nordic agtech scene, the agreement shows a Danish startup getting its hardware built into a major tractor brand's customization offering, rather than relying only on aftermarket sales.
