Finnish startup Ambio raises €5.1 million seed for AI recycled plastics procurement

Helsinki-based startup Ambio has raised €5.1 million in a seed round led by b2venture. Montis VC and existing investor Lifeline Ventures also took part. The company is building an AI-powered procurement platform for recycled plastics.

The platform covers the whole purchasing process, from finding materials to setting up long-term supply agreements. It uses verified material samples, quality documentation and transaction data to match industrial buyers with suitable recycled polymers. The article's excerpt is cut off at the point where it describes Ambio's own role in these transactions, so that detail is not available here.

Ambio says it is addressing uncertainty in buying recycled plastics. It does so with what it calls an AI-native platform that brings material discovery, qualification and supply management into one process. It assesses materials using samples, documentation and defined quality protocols. From this it builds a structured dataset covering material properties, suppliers, pricing and transaction outcomes.

b2venture partner Mathias Ockenfels pointed to three parts of the investment case: Ambio's proprietary dataset, its supplier model, and an AI engine that improves as it processes more transactions and quality information. The investor sees potential for Ambio to become a central marketplace for recycled plastics in Europe and other markets.

For the Nordic startup scene, the round adds a Finnish AI company working on industrial procurement and recycled materials, backed by a European venture firm and an existing Finnish investor.
