VivoPower starts construction of 42MW Mo i Rana data center in Norway

VivoPower has started construction of a 42MW data center in Mo i Rana, Norway. Alongside the construction start, the company announced a new, separate AI infrastructure firm that will manage its non-Nordic AI data center portfolio and pipeline.

The new company will be headquartered in Singapore. It will be funded through a targeted pre-IPO round of institutional and sovereign investment, followed by a planned primary listing on the London Stock Exchange and a secondary listing on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.

Kevin Chin, VivoPower's executive chairman and CEO, said the board has approved setting up a separately listed platform to hold and independently capitalize the non-Nordic AI data center portfolio. He said his team assembled that portfolio through long-standing sovereign and government relationships across the GCC and ASEAN regions. The effect is that the Norwegian project and the non-Nordic assets will sit in different vehicles.

VivoPower was founded in 2014 and has been listed on the Nasdaq since 2016. It operates across the UK, Australia, North America, Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Its business spans electric mobility, renewable power applications and digital asset infrastructure, with a growing focus on AI computing.

For the Nordic market, the Mo i Rana project adds another data center build in Norway. The article also lists related coverage, including Kitebrook, a data center firm targeting projects in Norway and backed by a Carlyle Group co-founder.
