DI: Budget must back AI, talent and computing power to secure Danish prosperity

Dansk Industri (DI) says the Danish budget must back AI, talent and computing power if the country is to secure its prosperity. The comments come from Lars Sandahl Sørensen, and the article is a set of excerpts from his statements, so it gives his positions rather than a full budget analysis.

Sørensen argues that artificial intelligence will be as decisive for the next generation of companies as electricity was for the last. If Danish firms are to develop tomorrow's solutions rather than simply buy them from abroad, they need both talent and computing power. That is why he calls investment in AI and in more STEM education so important.

He also says the public sector must embrace AI far more than it does today. The government has set an ambitious goal of freeing up 30,000 full-time work years, and he says this is only possible if technology is allowed to take over more routine tasks. In his words, nurses could then spend more time at the patient's bedside, caseworkers more time with citizens, and teachers more time with pupils. He calls this common sense.

On AI gigafactories, Sørensen acknowledges they may sound like a subject only for technicians. He says they are really about building the models that can, among other things, help diagnose cancer and find solutions to climate challenges. He wants the government to invest in Denmark's digital sovereignty, so the country strengthens its own ability to develop and use the critical technologies that society and business will have to build on in the future.

The takeaway is that Denmark's main business lobby sees AI infrastructure, skills and public-sector adoption as priorities for the budget.
