Denmark buys AI-powered drone defense system
Denmark has ordered a new command-and-control system built to counter drones, and the system is powered by artificial intelligence. The order was reported by the company behind it, Systematic, and relayed by Militarnyi and News.Az.
According to Systematic, this is the first known contract by a NATO country for such a system. The developer says it is ready from the outset to integrate AI-based analysis.
The AI component comes from SitaWare Insight, which uses algorithms to analyze data as it arrives in real time. Systematic says SitaWare Insight can apply computer vision and automatic anomaly detection to process large volumes of intelligence data.
The system is also designed to make information sharing with allies easier. Systematic says it is intended to support the operations of multinational formations such as the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF). It should let military personnel from different countries use shared operational information across various domains.
The claims about the contract being a first among NATO countries and about the system's capabilities come from the developer, as reported by the news outlets. The excerpt of the article does not give the contract's value, delivery timeline or deployment details.
For Denmark and its partners, the order points to AI-assisted analysis being built into drone defense from the start, with allied interoperability treated as a core requirement alongside it.
