Novo Nordisk director says AI is transforming drug development and scaling

Artificial intelligence is fundamentally transforming operations at the pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk. Thilde Hummel Bøgebjerg, executive vice president of IT and quality, states that the company's future strategy relies directly on artificial intelligence to alter traditional industry constraints.

In a competitive sector where development speed translates into billions of financial value, artificial intelligence helps achieve significantly faster results. The technology is successfully breaking long-standing limitations regarding how much it costs the company to grow and the extensive timeframes previously required to develop new medicine.

Beyond speeding up drug development and scaling operations, the technology is also reshaping workforce demands. Specifically, artificial intelligence will decrease the necessity of hiring new employees in the future. Additionally, the pharmaceutical company recently utilized artificial intelligence defensively when it experienced a hacking incident earlier in the year.
