Andon Labs launches world's first AI-agent run retail store

Andon Labs, founded by Lukas Petersson and Axel Backlund, has launched what it describes as the world's first retail store entirely managed by an artificial intelligence agent. Located in San Francisco, the experimental storefront is called Andon Market.

The AI agent, named Luna, handles the daily operations of the boutique. Luna's responsibilities include curating local independent art and high-quality stationery, hiring staff, and negotiating directly with suppliers.

The startup focuses on studying and deploying frontier artificial intelligence models in real-world environments. This retail project serves as a practical application of autonomous AI agents managing physical business operations.
