Good Tape buys out newsroom parent, launches Explore memory tool
Copenhagen-based AI transcription company Good Tape has become fully independent following a management buyout. Co-founder and chief executive officer Lasse Finderup secured majority ownership by purchasing the stake previously held by Zetland, the Danish newsroom that originally spawned the company.
Alongside the buyout, Good Tape secured fresh funding from Nordic Makers in a round led by Alexander Aghassipour, the co-founder and former chief product officer of Zendesk. Aghassipour also joined the company board as part of the investment. Both the ownership transition and the funding round closed simultaneously.
Alongside these business changes, Good Tape launched Explore, a new memory tool designed for its platform. The company operates as a specialized transcription service utilizing artificial intelligence technology.
This development matters because it marks Good Tape's complete separation from its parent newsroom, establishing the enterprise as a standalone business with backing from prominent tech investors and a new product offering.
