Artificial intelligence is changing how companies are bought and sold
Artificial intelligence is transforming the process of buying and selling companies by making corporate transactions faster and cheaper. A notable example occurred earlier this year when the private equity firm CVC bypassed traditional investment banks to sell the Greek e-commerce platform Skroutz using artificial intelligence.
Instead of relying on the conventional sales document known as an information memorandum, CVC provided potential buyers with access to a secure data portal. Within this portal, an artificial intelligence chatbot handled and answered inquiries from interested parties throughout the transaction process.
Despite these efficiency gains, the critical decisions that ultimately determine the success of a business deal still require human judgment and experience. There is a risk that this essential human element could be lost as automation takes on larger roles in corporate transactions.
