Pioneer Centre for AI

Research Academia Responsible AI

The Pioneer Centre for Artificial Intelligence operates as a national research hub hosted at the University of Copenhagen in collaboration with DTU, ITU, Aarhus University, and Aalborg University. Directed by Professor Serge Belongie, the centre bridges fundamental AI research with real-world applications through seven specialized collaboratories. These groups focus on technical domains ranging from learning theory and optimization to speech and language processing.

Unlike general interest meetups, the centre functions as an academic institution. Its activities center on research dissemination, workshops, and interdisciplinary projects such as the YODA initiative. The centre maintains a formal connection to the Nordic AI Partnership and the ELLIS Unit Denmark, providing a space for researchers and students to engage with peer-reviewed publications and academic workshops.
